The Bozburun Peninsular

Selemiye

You enter Marmaris the same way as you leave it-on a hilly windy road.
Head out towards the Datca penninsular on a recently widened road through the pine forests. After around 20 mins ,take a left turn towards Hisaronu-no-not the noisy Calis one!!!After a short ride, the scenery changes, opening up to the most beautiful sea and mountain vistas in Turkey.
Pass Orhaniye and its beautiful lagoon, past Turgut waterfall(and the damned jeep safaris in the summer months!!!!),then you get your first glimpse of Selimiye across the sea.

Selimiye village used to nestle within the hillside behind the security of its castle and the land by the sea was deemed to be worthless, thus handed down to the women in the families. Then traders came by sea and the port became vibrant as a result of Datca being one of the busiest trading ports in the past.
From thereonin the land by the sea became sought after, and the women held the reins!
Today,Selimiye is still a beautiful sleepy fishing village with charming tiny bars and a couple of high quality pensions. The beach at the end of the road through the village is still a well kept secret, usually only discovered by the yachting fraternity. The scenery all around is breathtaking. One never tires of it.
The tiny harbour is so pretty with its colourful fishing boats bobbing n the breeze.

A favourite stop off for the rich and famous is the Sardunya Restaurant, with its own moorings.
Visitors include Prince William and chums,Tom Cruise and Bill Gates,to name but a few!!!!
Selimiye is simply paradise, here on earth.
