Although winter is relatively short it feels long because
the cold feels cold. How silly does that sound? Well until
you've spent a winter in a house designed to be cool for the
long summer months you'll think me quite mad! Concrete
walls, marble and ceramic tiles hold the cold so if you are
considering relocating bear that in mind when house hunting.
To say Turkey has been in a bit of a turmoil over the
last couple of years re foreign property sales is something
of an understatement. Although you can still buy expect a
wait for your tapu until the new laws governing property
sales is properly in place.
The current political climate hasn't been particularly
conducive to the foreign purchaser, but couple that with the
global credit crunch and the astute investor can pick
him/herself a terrific bargain up. If you've been
considering buying now is a pretty good time to be looking
as there are plenty of bargains around.
Schools will be breaking up shortly, though in Turkeys
own inimitable style, no one knows when! Neala has an end of
year concert tonight and they certainly lay a lot of
responsibility on 7 year old shoulders! It will do her the
world of good and give her an added confidence in years to
come.
Oooo, the fruit on the trees! Fantastic, walk round your
garden, pick a delicious apricot here, a cherry there,
lemons in the salads, peaches dripping with juice; there
really is nothing quite like pulling your grapes from your
vines and munching away under a blistering sun. Luckily this
year, everything is totally organic. A couple of the
neighbours trees have been blighted with fungus and off they
trot for their chemicals. Do be careful with what you spray,
have a good long look at the list of ingredients before you decide
to treat as you will be ingesting those same chemicals when
you come to eat your fruit.
You have until the end of this month to get your property
taxes in so make sure you are current to avoid any fines and
interest.
All new arcade packed with challenging games for the mind
and fingers! Not everyone's cup of tea but we have quite a few
competitive members, of course I'm not one of them. :) It's
actually a lot of fun and whiles away some time when you're
short on imagination!
Social Groups
We've added the facility for social groups within the
forums. This means you can better share your areas/holidays
and experiences with like minded users. For now there is a
flora and fauna group and a bugs group where believe it or
not we're actually learning something! Currently there is a
group for Kusadasi and Bodrum/Altinkum. This is a completely
new feature and will take a while to grow but we're sure
will prove a useful asset in time.

destinations 2008. We're not surprised because we know what
it has to offer, but if you check out the holiday search
facility on the site you'll be given pages and pages of some
of the best package deals around from all the major
companies.
There are still some gaps in out holiday guide so if
anyone wishes to contribute to those areas we'd be happy to
publish them.
Most of the long term rentals have now been snapped up,
there are currently two left in Kusadasi. If anyone wishes
to list in the long term section email me for details. We
get a lot of enquiries for Marmaris, Izmir and other areas.
Mortgages may be proving problematic to get in the UK, but
our UK mortgage/financial advisors have managed to find some
good deals for members so worth contacting. The UK company
for Turkey mortgages on the main site has also put a few
through lately so the facilities are in place if you've been
considering purchasing.
We have an FSBO going onto the site shortly but because
this one is such a good deal we're going to let our
newsreaders know first.

This newsletter was supposed to go out on Friday but I
took off on holiday to friends in Gumusluk and Sogut which
have become very dear friends met through the forums. While
there I collected a passion flower that one of those friends
had picked up from another friend in Dalaman! The
Turkeyvilla forums don't just provide help and information,
you actually get to meet some of the nicest people with like
minds that you'd never come across otherwise. I do encourage
all our forum guests to join up, there are benefits you'd
never think of. :)
