Dalaman

Dalaman is relatively new to the tourism market but has such a lot to offer!
There are numerous wonderful little coves, some of them only accessable by boat which are often visited by the boats on the twelve island tour. One such bay, Sarsala Bay, is one you can get to by road. The drive is very scenic, through the mountains with pine forests and past a very large lake. The views are breathtaking, and the bay itself is a little piece of paradise! Early or late in the season is the best time to see it as it gets busier every year. There is a little restaurant run by "Apo" Demi Moore had lunch here last year!
We also have 5 kilometers of totally unspoilt beach running along in front of the airport to join Sarigermi beach.

There are lots of natural thermal springs in this area, some of them are natural hot pools. One of the best is a natural pool in Fevziye, formed from water springing from the rocks. It will cost you 2 euros to swim in the 27 degrees water, which is supposed to cure everything from skin problems to sciatica. You can have a mud bath too! There is a basic cafe for a coffee or beer and lunch.
The river by the airport has Nile Turtles which the restaurant (Nils)has trained to come for food when they hear her whistle. It's great fun to surprise your guests with! We rarely go there without seeing the Kingfishers and Eagles too.Dalaman has lots of wildlife to be seen, not least is the tortoises. (Who was it that said they were slow!?)They run about all over the place. We also get lots of migrating birds, so it's a great area for "twitchers"
The town center is undergoing a major revamp, and is growing at a pace of knots. We have new blockpaved roads and loads of new shops.

There are lots of lovely restaurants in and around Dalaman, too many to mention, or you can eat as the locals do in a pavement locanta in the town center and people watch. You can also, believe it or not, eat in the local prison restaurant! No menu, you can have spit roasted chicken, rice and salad, with lashings of fresh baked bread, no alcohol though. Only cool drinks or ayran. All that for about 6 or 7 lira a head!
We have a wonderful market on Thursdays, where you can buy local grown fruit and veg, and textiles.
Dalaman will soon have its own marina too. The plans were passed (after 10 years of fighting) and it will begin building this year.
